Honoring those in the Trenches!
October 25, 2011
If you are a lineman on the Varisty team, please step forward. Casen, Jose, Talyn, Adan, Steve, Ben Seth, Blake, Ketch, Rick and Daniel.
As you know, their names rarely appear in the newspaper stories and hardly ever singled out for a crushing block or honored for their jobs.
The loudest notices arrive when the yellow flag is thrown when the official says #52---HOLDING.
These are the guys down in the trenches on offense and defense waging a personal fight while us “running backs” are to run for the touchdowns and get the glory!
They play positions like tackle, center, guard. They smile over Crack Back Blocks, Blocks on the Kick Offs and the Block that makes a touchdown.
Our Coaches and the Running Backs know that they are the heart and soul of a successful offense and defense, even if they never score a touchdown. They are Linemen.
This week, the Valley Patriots, Amarillo Globe News and News Channel 10 proudly pay tribute to the Linemen at Valley and across the Texas Panhandle.
So, if you see a lineman this week, give him a hug, high five, or hand shake and tell him THANKS for his hard work outside the limelight!!
And from us ---- Your RUNNING BACKS---thanks for making our job possible, because without you blocking----we could not score!!
