LADY PATRIOTS EDGE CLOSER TO DISTRICT CROWN
The Lady Patriots won both of their district contests this past week, moving them ever closer to a district championship. There are just three games remaining in the district race, and Valley holds a two game lead over Paducah.
January 24, 2012---Tuesday evening's game had Valley facing Patton Springs. Valley raced to a 18-6 first quarter lead, en route to a 80-24 win. Kristen Jenkins led all scorers with 24 points, and also added 6 steals. Abby Hill and Kammi Warr were also in double figures with 19 and 14 points respectively. Others scoring were Jordan Noland-9, Haley Wheeler-7, Chambray Smith-4, and April Villarreal with 2 points.
Friday, January 27, 2012---Valley travel to Matador, where the Lady Patriots would hand the Lady Mats a 75-8 loss. Abby Hill would lead the way for Valley with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jordan Noland shot well and added 14 points for Valley. Kristen Jenkins and Caitlyn Brown also had nice games with 13 points apiece. Others scoring were Haley Wheeler with 7, April Villarreal-5, and Madison Meyer and Kammi Warr with 3 points each.
Valley will be at home Tuesday evening against Guthrie. Action will kick off at 5 pm with the JV boys game.
Jan. 17, 2012----LADY PATRIOTS SLIP PAST PADUCAH
In what was their closest game of the year, the Valley Lady Patriots defeated the Paducah Lady Dragons by a 49-45 score, to open up the second half of district play. Valley had to come from behind, as Paducah held an 8 point lead after the first quarter. Valley would battle back to take a three point lead at the midway point. The second half was close throughout, with Valley ultimately coming away with the 4 point win. The Lady Patriot offense did not click as usual. Valley had only one player score in double digits. Kristen Jenkins had 5 steals and 10 points to lead Valley. Chambray Smith followed with 9 points, and she added 9 steals for her season high in that category. Others scoring for Valley were Jordan Noland-8, Kammi Warr-6, Haley Wheeler-6, Abby Hill-4, Caitlyn Brown-4, and April Villarreal with 2 points. The win moves the Lady Patriots to 24-0 for the year, and 7-0 in district. They are open this Friday, and will face Patton Springs at home next Tuesday.

LADY PATRIOTS NOTCH TWO MORE DISTRICT WINS
Last week saw the district 6-A action continue, with the Valley Lady Patriots facing Motley County on Tuesday, and Guthrie on Friday. Valley would rack up two more wins, to stay on top of the district standings.
Tuesday night's game had the Motley County Lady Mats coming to town. The Lady Patriots raced to a 23-6 first quarter lead, in route to a 83-22 victory. Valley had ten girls find the scoring column, with totals as follows. April Villarreal-17, Kristen Jenkins-17, Abby Hill-13, Jordan Noland-10, Chambray Smith-7, Haley Wheeler-5, Madison Meyer-4, Haley Beesinger-4, Caitlyn Brown-4, and Kammi Warr with 2 points.
Friday evening had the Lady Patriots traveling to Guthrie to take on the always tough Lady Jags. The first quarter was fairly close, but Valley would use a 21 point second quarter surge to break the game open. The Lady Patriots ultimately came away with a 67-39 win. Kristen Jenkins had a great game to lead the way for Valley. She had 19 points and 6 steals. Others scoring for Valley were Jordan Noland-16, April Villarreal-10, Chambray Smith-10, Abby Hill-6, Kammi Warr-2, Caitlyn Brown-2, and Haley Wheeler with 2 points.
The team will next be in action Tuesday at home against Jayton. There will be 4 games starting with JV girls at 4, so come out and enjoy a full evening of Valley basketball!
(Dec 16-18 2011) LADY PATRIOTS WIN CAPROCK CANYONS CHRISTMAS CLASSIC!!!
The annual Caprock Canyons Christmas Classic basketball tournament was held this past weekend, with 16 teams from across the area in attendance. The Valley Lady Patriots came into the tournament on a roll, having won the Meadow invitational this past weekend, and were able to maintain their high level of play en route to winning the championship. Valley had to win four ball games to accomplish this task. The first game had them matched up with the Cotton Center Lady Elks. This ballgame was never close, as Valley came away with a 91-19 win. Valley had five players in double figures. Kristen Jenkins had 21, Jordan Noland-16, Haley Wheeler-15, Abby Hill-13, and Madison Meyer had 10 points. The next round saw Valley facing the Hart Lady Longhorns. Valley once again blew it open early to come away with a 61-23 win. Kristen Jenkins led the way again with 17 points. Abby Hill had 9 and Chambray Smith had 7 to round out the top scorers. The semi-final game matched the Lady Patriots up with Follett. Valley was in control throughout the contest and once again won by a 61-36 count. Kristen Jenkins and Jordan Noland led the charge in this contest with 14 and 12 points respectively. Saturday night's championship game pitted Valley against the class 2A Childress Lady Bobcats. Childress came into the game led by their 6-2 post girl, Tara Cornish. The game was very exciting annd fairley close, with Valley leading throughout, but Childress always within striking distance until the pivotal fourth quarter. That pivotal fourth quarter saw Valley turn up the defense to hold Childress to just one point, while scoring 14 of their own, to come away with the 47-23 win and a tournament championship. Kristen Jenkins had 18 points to lead the cause. Others scoring were Haley Wheeler-6, April Villarreal-5, Chambray Smith-5, Abby Hill-4, Kammi Warr-5, Caitlyn Brown-2, and Jordan Noland with 2 points. (Dec 13, 2011) LADY PATRIOTS OPEN DISTRICT PLAY WITH WIN OVER PADUCAH
The Valley Lady Patriots opened district play this past Tuesday against their arch rivals, the Paducah Lady Dragons. The game was close for a quarter, with Valley holding a 11-9 edge at the end of one. The girls turned the pressure up in the second quarter and outscored Paducah 21-3 to take a 32-12 halftime lead. The second half saw Valley extend their lead and ultimately come away with a 72-31 win. Kristen Jenkins led the way for Valley with her swarming defensive play, and also led all scorers with 17 points. Valley had three others in double figures. Abby Hill had 14 points, and Haley Wheeler and Chambray Smith each had 10 points. Others scoring for Valley were Kammi Warr-9, Jordan Noland-6, and April Villarreal with 6 points.

LADY PATRIOTS ROUT THE LADY ROOS (11-21-11)
The Lady Patriots traveled to Kress last Tuesday evening to play the Lady Roos, in their last game before the thanksgiving break. Valley would race to a 38-15 halftime score, in route to a 68-34 win. Haley Wheeler and Jordan Noland led the way for the evening with 16 and 13 points respectively. Kress packed into a zone defense, which left the perimeter open, and Valley took full advantage. The Lady Patriots hit 11 three pointers. Others scoring were Kristen Jenkins-12, Abby Hill-9, Kammi Warr-6, Chambray Smith-6, Caitlyn Brown-4, and April Villarreal with 2 points. The girls will next be in action Tuesday night in Hale Center, with game times to be determined since the boys are still in the football playoffs!
SPLIT JV GIRLS SQUAD WINS TWO
The Valley JV girls split into two groups to take on both Kress and New Deal this past Tuesdayin Kress. The first game saw the girls taking on Kress, and they came out on top by a 63-12 score. Shelby Shannon and Kodie Saul led all scorers with 17 points each. Macy Valdez and Esmerelda Cruz also did well with 14 and 13 points respectively. Jessie Messer chipped in two points to round out the scoring for Valley.
The second came saw Valley taking on New Deal, and came out about the same, with Valley winning by a 70-13 count. Haley Wheeler led all scorers in a big way with 31 points, including 6 3-pointers. Monica Alanis also played well with 17 points and 4 steals. Others scoring for Valley were MadisonMeyer-7, April Villarreal-6, Haley Beesinger-5, and Makenzie Standlee with 4 points.
