LADY PATRIOTS ARE AREA CHAMPIONS

The Lady Patriots are AREA CHAMPIONS

The Valley Lady Patriots traveled to Plainview Friday evening to take on the Happy Cowgirls in an area playoff contest. The game was a very hard fought, physical contest with Valley holding a slight advantage for most of the evening, before blowing it open in the 4th quarter to take a 62-42 win.

Valley was led by senior point guard Kennadee Buchanan, who had 17 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Emily Barrett added 12 points and 4 rebounds. Savannah Young also had a great game with 10 points and 11 rebounds against a very physical Cowgirl team. Others scoring for Valley were Kylie Brown with 9, Frannie Alanis with 7, Sydnee Meyer-5, and Jacee Crump with 2 points.

The Lady Patriots advance to the regional quarterfinal game against the Nazareth Lady Swifts. The game will be at Plainview High Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Lets all fill up the stands and cheer our girls on to victory!! Go Lady Patriots!

â–  Valley 62, Happy 42: The No. 11-ranked Valley Lady Patriots cruised to a Class 1A area round win over Happy in Plainview on Friday night.

Valley, which is now 24-2 on the year, had three players in double digits led by Kennadee Buchanan’s 17 points. Emily Barrett added 12, and Savannah Young added 10 for the Lady Patriots.

Happy’s Kenna Bryan had 17 points as the Cowgirls season ends at 16-16. 

Valley will face No 3-ranked Nazareth in the regional quarterfinals at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Plainview High School.

LADY PATRIOTS WIN TWO MORE

  With district wins over Silverton and Groom this past week, the Lady Patriots wrapped up another district championship. Tuesday evening saw the Silverton Lady Owls come to town. Valley broke open a close game when they held Silverton to just one point in the third quarter, on their way to a 45-35 win. Frannie Alanis led all scorers with 17 points. Savannah Young followed with 9 points and 10 rebounds. Others scoring for Valley were Sydnee Meyer-5, Emily Barrett-4, Kennadee Buchanan-4, Jacee Crump-4, and Kylie Brown with 2 points. 

  Friday, the Lady Patriots traveled to Groom. Valley raced to a 20-4 first quarter lead, on their way to a 67-28 win. Emily Barrett led all scorers with 17 points. Frannie Alanis followed with 16 points. Savannah Young was also in double figures with 11 points. Others scoring were Kennadee Buchanan with 9 points, Kylie Brown-8, Sydnee Meyer-4, and Jacee Crump with 2 points. 

  The Lady Patriots will close out their district schedule Tuesday evening at home against the Hedley Lady Owls.

 

 

 

 LADY PATRIOTS WIN AT McLEAN

 The Valley Lady Patriots traveled to Mclean this past Tuesday, and came away with a hard fought 37-33 win. The game was very close throughout, with Valley's Kylie Brown and Emily Barrett hitting 4 straight free throws down the stretch to secure the win.Emily led all scorers in scoring in the low scoring game with 11 points. Others scoring for Valley were Frannie Alanis-8, Kennadee Buchanan -7, Kylie Brown-4, Sydnee Meyer-3, Savannah Young-3, and Jacee Crump with 1 point. The win gives Valley a 2 game lead in the district race with 3 games to play.

 

 

LADY PATRIOTS DEFEAT HEDLEY

The Valley Lady Patriots traveled to Hedley this past Friday to wrap up the first half of district play. Valley would come out fast and race to a 24-1 first quarter lead, on their way to a 77-20 win. The win moved the Lady Patriots to 5-0 in district play. Emily Barrett led the way for Valley with 21 points. Savannah Young and Jacee Crump were also in double figures as they scored 15 and 13 points respectively. Others scoring were Franny Alanis-9, Kylie Brown-7, Rachel Hancock-5, Kennadee Buchanan-4, and Danielle Silva with 3 points. The Lady Patriots will travel to McleanTuesday to begin the second half of district play.

 

 

 

 

LADY PATRIOTS PREVAIL IN BATTLE OF DISTRICT UNBEATENS

The Lady Patriots traveled to Silverton this past Friday to take on the Lady Owls in a battle of unbeaten district teams. The winner of this game would stand alone in first place in the district 2-A standings. The game was a hard fought physical battle with both teams playing tough defense. Valley would ultimately come out on top, with clutch free throw shooting down the stetch to hold off the Lady Owls. The final score was Valley-44 Silverton-38. Emily Barrett led all scorers with 17 points, including 7 for 8 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter. Kennadee Buchanan followed with 13 points and did a great job handling the ball under intense pressure from the Lady Owls. Others scoring were Frannie Alanis with 7 points, Kylie Brown-4, Jacee Crump-2, and Savannah Young with 1. The Lady Patriots will next be at home on Tuesday the 19th when they will face the Lady Tigers from Groom. 

 

LADY PATRIOTS OPEN DISTRICT WITH WIN

  The Mclean Lady Tigers came to town last Friday to open up district 2A play. The game was a hard fought game, with Valley holding a slight lead for most of the game. Valley led 25-18 at the half. They would eventually stretch that out to a 49-34 win. This was a very positive start to District play for the Lady Patriots, with Mclean being one of the tougher teams in district. Emily Barrett led all scorers with 17 points. Kennadee Buchanan was also in double figures with 10 points as well as 6 assists. Other scoring totals were Frannie Alanis-8, Savannah Young-5, Jacee Crump-4, Sydnee Meyer-4, and Kylie Brown with 1 point. Valley will resume district play Friday the 15th when they travel to Silverton. Game time is 6:30.

 LADY PATRIOTS WIN CHAMPIONSHIP AT VALLEY TOURNEY

The Valley Lady Patriots won all four of their games this past weekend at the Valley tournament to bring home the championship. They started off by defeating the Panhandle JV, followed by victories over Tulia, Memphis, and finally Childress in the Championship game.

Against Panhandle, Senior guard Frannie Alanis led the way with 24 points. Emily Barrett and Kennadee Buchanan were also in double figures with 16 and 11 points respectively.

In Friday's first game against Tulia, Valley would put up 74 points on their way to a 74-43 win. Kennadee Buchanan led all scorers with 20 points. Other scoring totals were Emily Barrett-16,  Savannah Young-11, Frannie Alanis-11, Jacee Crump-6, Kylie Brown-5, Sydnee Meyer-3, and Rachel Hancock-2.

The 2nd game of the day saw Valley take on Memphis. The Lady Patriots overcame a sluggish start to win by a 45-37 score. Kylie Brown and Savannah Young led the way with 11 points each. Frannie Alanis chipped in 10 points, and Emily Barrett added 9 points. Kennadee Buchanan rounded out the scoring with 4 points.

 In Saturday evening's championship game, Valley would win a shootout with the Childress Lady Cats by a 71-61 score. Kennadee Buchanan had her best game of the tourney with 22 points and 6 assists. Frannie Alanis also had a great game with 20 points. Emily Barrett added 13 points, which included 6 straight free throws down the stretch to ice the game. Savannah Young battled the post girls from Childress well and added 10 points and 11 rebounds. Other scoring totals were Kylie Brown-2, Sydnee Meyer-2, and Jacee Crump with 2 points. Congrats Lady Patriots on a job well done!

 
LADY PATRIOTS WIN THREE STRAIGHT
 
  The Valley Lady Patriots continued their good start to the season with 3 straight wins that started before Thanksgiving and ended Tuesday evening in Matador. The first of the three wins was at Meadow last Monday. The Lady Patriots raced to an18-3 first quarter lead on their way to a 77-35 win. Senior point guard Kennadee Buchanan led the way with probably the best scoring night of her career as she scored 35 points, including seven 3-pointers. Others scoring for Valley were Emily Barrett-13, Frannie Alanis-8, Savannah Young-8, Kylie Brown-6, Sydnee Meyer-3, Jacee Crump-2, and Rachel Hancock with 2 points.
  The next night, the Lady Patriots would travel to Hale Center. Valley would overcome a tough night shooting to come away with the 45-41 win. Kennadee Buchanan led the way again with 12 points. Other scorers were Frannie Alanis-10, Emily Barrett-9, Savannah Young-8, Jacee Crump-4, and Kylie Brown-2.
  The final game of the three game run was in Matador, where Valley took on the Motley County Lady Mats. Valley started quickly with an 18-6 first quarter lead, on the way to the 79-33 win. Emily Barrett led all scorers with 23 points. Frannie Alanis and Kennadee Buchanan were also in double figures with 15 and 12 points respectively. Others scoring for Valley were Jacee Crump-8, Savannah Young-8, Sydnee Meyer-7, and Kylie Brown-6.
 
The Start of the Lady Patriots Season
 
The Valley Lady Patriots have opened the 2015-16 campaign with a bang, having two big wins over Happy and Childress. Tuesday evening saw the Happy Cowgirls come to town. This was a close contest until the Lady Patriots broke things open in the second half, to come away with a 53-37 win. Scoring for the Lady Patriots was as follows: Emily Barrett-15, Savannah Young-13, Kennadee Buchanan-9, Frannie Alanis-4, Sydnee Meyer-4, Kylie Brown-4, and Jacee Crump-4.
  
Saturday's opponent was the Childress Lady Cats. This game was a battle throughout, with several lead changes during the course of the game. Valley came up with a 22 point 4th quarter to lead the way to a 56-51 win. Emily Barrett led all scorers with 20 points, including 2 crucial free throws late in the game to extend the lead from 3 to 5 points. Frannie Alanis was also in double figures with 13 points, and had two crucial steals late in the game to help secure the win. Other scorers for Valley were Savannah Young-6, Sydnee Meyer-6, Kennadee Buchanan-5, Kylie Brown-4, and Jacee Crump with 2 points.
 
The Lady Patriots will be at home this Tuesday evening at 6 pm when they will face the Lubbock Titans.
