Jake Merrell Runs in State Cross Country Meet

... in a muddy mess!

The annual state cross country meet was held this past Saturday in Round Rock , Tx. After an all night and morning rain storm, the meet was held in some of the most grueling conditions in the history of the meet. Runners finished races totally covered in mud from head to toe, and had to cross several creeks with running water flowing through them. The weather was also windy, cool , and rainy. There were 146 participants in the 1A boys race. Valley's own Jake Merrell was one of those participants, courtesy of his 4th place finish in the region 1 race. Contestant ran a 3.2 mile course through mud and running water. As mentioned earlier, some of the most severe conditions in the history of the race. Jake was able to successfully navigate the course and fished in 21st place. He ran a very tough race and represented Valley well. Great job Jake, you made us all proud!

WAY TO GO JAKE!
