Wildcats Outlast the Patriots
WILDCATS OUTLAST THE PATRIOTS
The highly touted game between two top 5 teams, Crowell and Valley, turned out to be everything that was expected. Both of these teams are predicted to be contenders for the state title, and neither did anything to make people think otherwise. The game ended up with Crowell coming out on top by an 84-80 score, but the final outcome was not determined until the last possession. Valley played the game without key starters Jake Merrell and Jayton Smith. They also lost two more players during the course of the game when Joe Carrera and Jack Price went out with injuries. But,the Patriots still kept the lead until late in the 4th quarter.
Offensively, Adrian Espinoza had 5 touchdowns to go along with 83 yards rushing and 111 yards receiving. Dax Allen also had a big night with 99 yards rushing and 67 yards receiving and 2 touchdowns. Zack Stumbo threw for 307 yards and 5 touchdowns. He added 40 yards rushing and 1 touchdown as well. Juan Villarreal had 4 receptions for 100 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Patriots will next be in action this next Thursday evening in Guthrie. The junior high will play the early game and the varsity will follow at 7:30. Please come out and support your Valley Patriots as they take on another very tough opponent in the Guthrie Jaguars.
